Explore how the brain shapes behavior, how we perceive the world through our senses and cognition, and the processes of learning and memory. This program is accessible online or at our Chicago campus, with new offerings for transfer students at our Schaumburg campus starting Fall 2025. Psychological knowledge is crucial in modern society to comprehend individual and group behaviors, as well as personal growth challenges. The Psychology Department provides diverse courses for specialized study, blending experimental psychology with practical applications. Topics include human sexuality, social psychology, developmental disorders, cross-cultural psychology, and stress reduction techniques. The curriculum covers research methodologies, statistical analysis, biological psychology, diversity studies, legal psychology, and human development across all life stages. Foundational experimental psychology areas like sensory perception, cognition, and memory processes are also available.Students can pursue a Psychology major/minor or specialize in Child and Family Studies, Mental Health, Neuroscience, or Forensic Psychology. A Psychology degree prepares students for advanced studies in psychological fields or human services. Understanding psychological concepts enhances any profession involving human interaction.
A freshman applicant is defined as an individual who has completed or will complete a high school degree or its equivalent and has fewer than 12 transferrable college credit hours. The admission requirements for freshman applicants are as follows:

Roosevelt requires applicants to attain a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 2.0 for at least 3 years of study. Students with a GPA just below 2.0 may be still considered for admission on a case-by-case basis. Self-reported information is accepted for most programs but an official transcript will be required if you are admitted to Roosevelt University.
If you took dual enrollment classes at your local community college as part of your high school diploma, you will need to submit transcripts from your community college in addition to your high school transcripts.
Roosevelt is test-optional. If you have taken the ACT or SAT we encourage you to send your scores, though these are not required for admission.
