As a student in the four-year Printmaking BFA program, you'll immerse yourself in exploring conceptual, technical and aesthetic aspects of both traditional and modern printmaking. Drawing inspiration from original artworks at the RISD Museum and nearby collections, you'll develop your artistic voice with guidance from faculty, visiting artists, and printmaking experts. In your sophomore year—your initial year as a Printmaking major—you'll learn foundational techniques including intaglio, lithography, and screenprinting. As a junior in the BFA curriculum, you'll further refine your creative vision, critical thinking, and technical abilities through specialized Printmaking electives or cross-disciplinary studios in areas like Illustration, Textiles, and Photography.
