The social work profession continues to expand. Purdue University Northwest's CSWE-accredited program merges a competency-focused curriculum with hands-on field internships. After completing the program, graduates will be qualified to seek LBSW licensure, apply for graduate programs, or enter the workforce as generalist social work practitioners.
Students complete a mix of general education requirements, core courses from the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, and specialized social work classes.
Our program aligns with the nine CSWE competencies: Professional ethics and conduct, embracing diversity, advancing human rights and social justice, research methods, policy implementation, working with various client systems, assessment techniques, intervention strategies, and outcome evaluation.
The Social Work program enjoys excellent community standing. Every component of the degree develops the knowledge, values, skills, and thought processes that form the foundation of professional social work competencies. Graduates emerge prepared for generalist practice, licensure applications, or advanced academic pursuits.
This professional degree program leads to licensure eligibility. Faculty members bring practical experience, demonstrate ethical standards, and participate in community service with students.
Numerous learning opportunities exist through practicum placements, educational excursions, service projects, and student organizations that foster community engagement.
