Purdue University's Department of Art and Design offers a Master of Fine Arts program that fosters an innovative, cross-disciplinary setting. Here, students can deeply cultivate their artistic and design sensibilities under the guidance of practicing artist-educators. The three-year program blends theoretical studies, art/design history, and studio practice, enabling personalized learning paths. Initial coursework dominates the program's first phase, leaving ample time for creative exploration and thesis exhibition preparation. Participants may also choose to supplement their exhibition with a written thesis. Teaching opportunities include introductory drawing and design classes, plus select advanced courses, all with strong mentorship. Full assistantships (involving two courses per term) offer around $18,000 for ten months, tuition remission, health coverage, and reduced spouse tuition rates.
