Since 1879, entomology has been a fundamental part of Purdue University and its College of Agriculture. While much has evolved over time, insects now play an even more crucial role. With species vastly outnumbering all other life forms, insects present both benefits and challenges to humanity. They also serve as valuable models for investigating broader ecological, genetic, and evolutionary concepts. Our distinguished faculty conduct diverse research that opens doors to numerous fulfilling entomology career paths. We actively promote student engagement beyond traditional entomology boundaries, offering interdisciplinary research, university leadership positions, professional growth initiatives, and global learning experiences.
