Beginning Fall 2021, the Health Science Pre-Professional (HSPP) program will be renamed Biomedical Health Sciences (BMHS) to better reflect its STEM and biomedical emphasis. Students newly admitted for Fall 2021 to HSPP can choose to remain in that program or transition to BMHS upon enrollment. The HSPP curriculum equips students for professional schools across various health-related fields by establishing strong foundations in both scientific and humanities disciplines. This comprehensive approach readies undergraduates for the dynamic healthcare sector's evolving demands. Our intentionally structured curriculum ensures students complete comparable coursework during their initial two years, enabling seamless transitions between HSPP specializations. A key advantage of HSPP is its integration of professional school prerequisites into degree requirements, eliminating additional coursework burdens for students.
The BMHS major prepares students for advanced study in diverse health professions and scientific fields through rigorous biomedical training. This program develops essential competencies in biomedical sciences, equipping graduates to navigate the rapidly transforming healthcare and research landscape. The thoughtfully designed BMHS curriculum features shared foundational courses during the first two years, permitting students to change concentrations if desired. A significant benefit of BMHS is its incorporation of graduate/professional school admission requirements directly into degree plans, ensuring students complete all necessary preparation without extra courses.
