Biochemistry explores the chemical foundations of life, studying the essential components and mechanisms that sustain living organisms. Researchers in this field examine core biological functions like gene expression regulation and how hormones influence cell growth and specialization. By understanding these molecular foundations, we gain insights into life's workings and address fundamental biological challenges.
Within our Biochemistry Department, which has its roots in the College of Agriculture, students benefit from personalized faculty guidance through intimate class settings and academic support. A key advantage of our curriculum is its emphasis on practical research experience and analytical reasoning. Every department student engages in faculty-supervised undergraduate research projects.
Additionally, qualified students can pursue a five-year combined degree with biological engineering after gaining admission to the College of Engineering.
