Elementary educators play a pivotal role in shaping young minds. Our elementary education program equips future teachers through academic instruction and hands-on classroom training, known as clinical practice. Beyond building both practical skills and theoretical foundations, you'll cultivate cultural awareness and appreciation for diversity. The comprehensive curriculum readies you for actual classroom scenarios, personalized student development, and your own professional growth.
Clinical practice opportunities include:
Collaborations with local schools near campus
Specialized placements in urban, suburban, and rural educational settings
Possibilities for out-of-state placements in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, or global locations
Purdue's educator preparation program holds accreditation from both the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the Indiana Department of Education. Program completers qualify for Indiana state teaching certification.
