The program also offers a 56-credit, two-year Advanced Standing option for students holding bachelor's degrees from four-year Architecture or Engineering programs.
The M.Arch curriculum features a foundational core of design, history-theory, technology, and media courses, progressing to advanced studies in applied research and electives. This comprehensive structure prepares graduates with the essential professional skills for architectural practice.
During the initial three semesters, the core curriculum integrates learning across design, technical, historical-theoretical, and media disciplines. The fourth semester brings this integrated approach to fruition through the distinctive Integrative Studio. A hallmark of GAUD, this studio merges architectural design, building systems, and regulatory compliance into one comprehensive course. Teamwork lies at the heart of the Integrative Studio, where students collaborate on architectural projects with guidance from GAUD faculty and technical experts from top New York firms. In the final two semesters, the M.Arch program builds upon the Integrative Studio with advanced studio work and elective courses. Here, students pursue specialized research projects under the mentorship of Pratt Institute faculty and practicing architects.
