At Pratt, we view photography as both a medium and a means for individual and societal communication. As a student, you'll cultivate a richer awareness of your position in today's image-driven world, shaping an adaptable viewpoint to create diverse, significant impacts in the field.
The Photography program delivers comprehensive training through foundational courses designed to enhance both technical skills and creative thinking.

Students build their photographic expertise by mastering both traditional and digital techniques while gaining substantial knowledge of the medium's history and theory. In our visually saturated era, photographic literacy has gained fresh importance, new immediacy, and innovative expressions.
Through internships at renowned institutions like the Whitney Museum of Art, Conveyor Arts, D.A.P., David LaChapelle Studio, and Diverse Works, students can investigate various professional pathways. These practical experiences connect classroom learning with workplace realities. Students may elect to complete an internship for academic credit, with guidance from Pratt faculty advisors who support them until achieving their educational goals.
