The University of Nebraska's School of Art, Art History & Design offers a distinctive, close-knit setting for pursuing photography studies. With limited class sizes and personalized instruction, students develop both technical abilities and creative thinking. The curriculum covers traditional film techniques alongside modern digital methods, tracing photography's evolution while preparing students for professional careers. Our Photography program emphasizes in-depth critiques, technical excellence, and artistic experimentation, supported by state-of-the-art facilities. The department boasts nearly 4000 square feet of specialized spaces including digital workstations, traditional and alternative process darkrooms, a professional lighting studio, and dedicated student gallery areas. Students benefit from direct access to the Sheldon Museum of Art's photographic archives, opportunities to engage with visiting artists, and close collaboration with museum staff, all conveniently located near the Woods Art Building.
