Our globally recognized undergraduate jewelry program provides a comprehensive and challenging education, equipping you with skills for diverse career paths in modern jewelry design. First-year students complete the Foundation program's core classes, mandatory art history and liberal arts courses, before starting the fine arts major curriculum in their sophomore year. As they progress through required art history and general education classes, second-year students delve deeper into their specialization, choosing from areas like painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, integrated practices, or jewelry. All fine arts students also participate in departmental seminars exploring current social, historical, and critical topics in art.
Outside their major requirements, students can use elective credits to explore other interests, pursue a minor in another discipline, or gain practical experience through internships. The final year centers on creating an independent body of work for the senior thesis exhibition during spring semester. Professional practice courses guide students in portfolio development and career planning, offering strategies for securing funding, gallery representation, residencies, and employment after graduation.
