The Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages with a Spanish Teacher Certification focus aims to cultivate a deeper appreciation of Hispanic cultures by exploring their fundamental expression: language. Beyond enhancing speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities, our curriculum introduces students to historical, literary, and social aspects of Spanish-speaking communities. Alongside language, literature, and writing classes, students enroll in teaching methods, psychology, and professional education courses to master Spanish language instruction. The program culminates with a final semester of supervised teaching alongside a certified educator. Participants may also join the Spanish Club to celebrate Hispanic heritage or attend weekly Spanish Table lunches to practice conversation with native speakers, peers, and locals. Intermediate and advanced students (4th semester+) enjoy weekly 30-minute one-on-one sessions with Spanish-speaking partners. We strongly recommend study abroad opportunities, ranging from brief faculty-led tours to extended summer, semester, or year-long exchange programs. Through PSU's global university partnerships, students can study internationally while paying standard PSU tuition rates.
