Pittsburg State University's Modern Languages program offers students four specialization options: French Language and Culture, French Teaching Certification, Spanish Language and Culture, and Spanish Teaching Certification. Earning a bachelor's degree in Modern Languages deepens cultural knowledge through exploration of historical, literary, and social aspects of your selected language. The curriculum focuses on developing language proficiency, with faculty creating comprehensive coursework to enhance speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities. Upper-level students (beyond their fourth semester) participate in weekly immersive conversation sessions with native speakers, accelerating language acquisition and cultural understanding. The teaching certification track additionally qualifies graduates to instruct at middle or high school levels.
