Tailored for aspiring researchers in both academic and professional environments, the Health Policy Ph.D. is a doctoral program concentrating on healthcare service structures, funding mechanisms, and advanced statistical techniques essential for cutting-edge research in health policy, administration, and related fields. After the first year, students choose among three specialized concentrations: health economics, healthcare management and organizations, or population health and demography. Additional options include pursuing graduate minors in gerontology or demography, or obtaining a dual-title Ph.D. in Demography. Alumni of the Health Policy Ph.D. program have secured tenure-track positions at leading research institutions, joined private research firms, been employed by government agencies, or pursued careers in corporate settings.
A junior/senior grade-point average of 3.00 or better (on a 4.00 scale) and a well-considered statement of experience and career goals are major criteria for admission. Some work experience in health services is preferred, but not required.
