UC Berkeley's PhD Program in Health Policy (previously called Health Services and Policy Analysis) stands out for its cross-disciplinary approach, applying social and behavioral sciences to practical health challenges. Candidates choose a concentration from three focus areas (Health Economics, Organizations & Management, or Population & Data Science) while undergoing thorough instruction in quantitative research techniques. They further enhance their education by drawing from Berkeley's world-class departments in Economics, Political Science, and Sociology, along with resources from the Haas School of Business and Goldman School of Public Policy. Alumni of this Health Policy program emerge fully equipped for scholarly roles in both research and education. The curriculum's foundation in interdisciplinary social and behavioral science perspectives on health services and policy allows students to customize significant portions of their studies to align with their individual research goals.
The minimum graduate admission requirements are:
a bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution;
