Entomology explores insects, Earth's most abundant life forms. With over a million documented species, insects profoundly influence our planet. Our Entomology Department pioneers groundbreaking research that enhances human and animal well-being, enriches quality of life, and supports sustainable food systems and ecosystems.
The Entomology Department offers globally-focused educational experiences. Graduate students can pursue coursework and research projects, or obtain international qualifications through dual-degree programs.
The PhD represents exceptional academic excellence and proven independent research abilities. Typically requiring five years of full-time study post-bachelor's degree, students with master's degrees often complete requirements in four years. Partial off-campus or part-time study is possible, but candidates must complete two academic sessions on-site within a twelve-month period between admission and degree completion.
For admission to the Graduate School, an applicant must hold a degree from an officially recognized degree-granting institution in the country in which it operates. Degree must be a: Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or Tertiary (postsecondary) degree that is deemed comparable to a four-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution.
English Proficiency: TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the internet-based test (iBT); TOEFL Paper-based test - the minimum acceptable score is 550; IELTS - The minimum acceptable composite score for the IELTS Academic Test is 6.5.
