The Middle Level Education program equips graduates to instruct all subjects for grades 4-6 and specialize in English, Mathematics, or Social Studies for grades 7-8. This major fosters students' mastery of subject content and age-appropriate teaching strategies for young adolescents in grades 4-8. Graduates will complete all Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) requirements for coursework and field experience, qualifying them for the Instructional I Certificate in either 4-8 English, Mathematics, or Social Studies. The program also prepares students for PDE's mandatory certification examinations.
This curriculum maintains accreditation through the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), with specialized program review handled by the American Middle Level Association (AMLE).
