This program concentrates on examining, planning, and managing aircraft and spacecraft operations. Students explore theories and practical applications in essential areas such as aeronautics, astronautics, aerodynamics and fluid dynamics, aerospace materials and structures, dynamics and automatic control, aircraft stability and control and/or orbital and attitude dynamics and control, air-breathing and rocket propulsion, and the design of aircraft and/or spacecraft systems. A strong emphasis is placed on cultivating teamwork and communication abilities to tackle challenges effectively. Graduates in aerospace engineering secure roles in typical environments like government labs and aerospace companies of all sizes, as well as in unconventional positions that demand systems-engineering problem-solving methods; they may also advance to graduate studies in aerospace engineering and related disciplines.
Aerospace engineering is the main engineering discipline dedicated to creating, advancing, testing, and manufacturing aircraft, spacecraft, and associated systems and gear. It has historically addressed issues linked to atmospheric and space travel, with two key, interconnected areas: aeronautical engineering and astronautical engineering. Aerospace engineers pioneer cutting-edge technologies and incorporate them into vehicle systems for uses in transportation, communication, exploration, and defense. This includes designing and building aircraft, spacecraft, propulsion systems, satellites, and missiles, along with testing aerospace products, parts, and assemblies. Accomplished aerospace engineers have deep expertise in and comprehension of aerodynamics, materials and structures, propulsion, vehicle dynamics and control, and software.
