The Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) program equips students with essential skills for careers in aviation maintenance. Graduates earning the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree fulfill Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) prerequisites to qualify for two certifications: airframe maintenance technician and powerplant maintenance technician (A&P). The curriculum incorporates all mandatory coursework and laboratory training (totaling 2030 hours). These certifications enable A&P technicians to service jet engines, piston engines, airframes, and diverse aircraft components—including sheet metal work, riveting, and composite fabrication/repair—within the aviation sector. The program emphasizes practical training through hands-on laboratory sessions in USU's maintenance management facility. With strong industry demand for aircraft maintenance technicians, program graduates consistently achieve excellent employment outcomes.
