This interdisciplinary program cultivates a comprehensive grasp of women's studies and feminist viewpoints across academic disciplines. It emphasizes feminist examinations of women's experiences, their societal, cultural, and scientific achievements, and the frameworks of gender systems. The curriculum's interdisciplinary approach is evident through courses shared with numerous departments, historical explorations of women's lives, and studies acknowledging diversity in culture, race, religion, ethnicity, age, ability, and sexual orientation.
Women's Studies investigates how identity, societal influence, and privilege intersect. By examining how societies create inequality and prejudice, this field critically analyzes all life aspects while considering socio-political disparities and women's real-world experiences. Through courses spanning Anthropology, Communications, Political Science, History, Psychology, Sociology, Women's Health, and beyond, students can engage with Women's Studies from multiple angles. Beyond U.S. feminist history, global feminism provides comparative insights into: cultural gender concepts, legal/political status of marginalized groups, gender-based violence consequences, and how migration, militarization, climate crises, and food scarcity affect women's welfare worldwide.
