The Gender and Women's Studies (GWS) undergraduate program provides students with an interdisciplinary exploration of gender, women, and sexuality through an intersectional lens, examining these concepts as analytical frameworks and their role in shaping social and historical power dynamics. The program combines foundational feminist theory with advanced coursework that fosters critical thinking and exposes students to diverse feminist research methodologies. Coursework spans topics like global feminism, representation politics, feminist perspectives on science, labor and gender relations, health disparities, and LGBTQ+ visual arts. Students develop skills to analyze gender using approaches from social sciences, humanities, and interdisciplinary fields while engaging with transformative feminist and queer theories that reshape our comprehension of sexuality, society, and cultural norms.
GWS students benefit from close collaboration with our distinguished faculty members. The program prepares graduates for diverse career paths while offering individualized academic support. Recognized for its student-centered approach, the department's intimate learning environment fosters strong connections between students, professors, and administrative staff, creating a nurturing academic community.
