New York State faces a growing need for educators with dual certification who can effectively teach English language learners (ELLs), as the population of multilingual and multicultural students expands rapidly. Stand out from other candidates by earning a Master of Science in Education (MSEd) in Teaching English as a New Language (ENL), equipping certified teachers with specialized skills to instruct ELLs across Pre-K through 12th grade. Practical training and fieldwork can be completed at your current workplace for added convenience. The program offers diverse elective options tailored to individual interests, including faculty-led international courses in Italy or Ecuador that fulfill TESOL requirements.
Upon program completion and meeting all qualifications, graduates receive certification to teach ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) in Pre-K12 environments. The School of Education maintains strong relationships with partner institutions, resulting in excellent job placement rates for program graduates.
