The School of Biological and Population Health Sciences provides graduate programs culminating in Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in Nutrition. This curriculum combines diverse fields related to nutrition, spanning molecular, biochemical, physiological, and clinical aspects. The primary objective is for students to develop advanced knowledge of current nutrition topics and implement these principles to enhance human well-being.
Nutrition research concentrates on human dietary needs and how nutrients influence physiological systems affecting health. Our investigative initiatives aim to uncover novel insights, data, methodologies, and solutions that can improve individual and family wellness across Oregon, the nation, and globally. Original research culminating in a thesis is mandatory for both M.S. and Ph.D. candidates.
Given nutrition's foundation in natural sciences, prospective graduate students must possess solid preparation in chemistry, physiology, nutrition, statistics, and biochemistry.
