The Division of Plant Science and Technology provides advanced degree programs for master of science and doctor of philosophy in Plant, Insect and Microbial Sciences, specializing in one of five academic tracks. Students can choose from diverse coursework and research opportunities to build expertise for careers in research, academia, industry, or extension services.
Our division features outstanding graduate programs where students learn from top-tier scientists through both classroom education and research mentorship. Multiple specialized tracks are available, allowing students to pursue either conventional study paths or interdisciplinary approaches that leverage the division's broad expertise.
The Crop, Soil and Pest Management program equips students for professional roles in research, education, agricultural extension, farming operations, and related industries. Research focuses include soil fertility, forage systems, grain and oilseed production, alternative crops, farming systems, weed control, integrated pest management, and precision agriculture techniques. Many programs incorporate interdisciplinary elements to provide students with holistic field knowledge. This program adopts a personalized educational approach, with each student collaborating with advisors to design a curriculum aligned with their academic and professional aspirations.
