The Marine Resource Management (MRM) program is an interdisciplinary master's degree grounded in scientific principles, housed within the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science (CEOAS). This curriculum equips students with comprehensive, cross-disciplinary skills essential for thriving in professional resource management roles. Addressing marine and coastal challenges requires navigating intricate technical and political landscapes involving diverse stakeholders and viewpoints. Effective marine resource managers must possess foundational knowledge across both natural and social sciences. Program graduates are prepared to serve as vital connectors between scientific research and policy implementation.
Students can choose between two academic pathways: a professional track or a thesis track. Those selecting the professional track complete either an internship or research project, culminating in a project defense. Thesis track candidates undertake more in-depth original research and analysis, while also fulfilling additional Graduate School and faculty advisor requirements for their scholarly work.
