The School of Language, Culture, and Society provides graduate programs for earning a master's or doctoral degree in Applied Anthropology. Additionally, the school offers a master of arts in interdisciplinary studies and serves as a minor field for other advanced degree programs.
This curriculum is designed to address a critical and expanding need: producing anthropologists with specialized training in applied research. Alumni pursue academic careers or find employment across diverse sectors, such as government bodies (including recent placements at the Bureau of Land Management and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), non-profit organizations (ranging from global entities like Oxfam to regional groups like the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission), Native American tribes nationwide, and private industry.
