The Bachelor of Science and Honors Bachelor of Science programs in Bioengineering hold accreditation from ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission, available at http://www.ABET.org.
Bioengineering combines engineering concepts with quantitative approaches to innovate biological products, materials, devices, and methodologies. Professionals in this field tackle challenges across bioprocessing, biomedical, and bioenvironmental domains.
The undergraduate curriculum establishes strong foundations in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics, alongside core engineering disciplines. It focuses on three key areas: 1. Bioprocessing, 2. Tissue Engineering, and 3. Biological Signals. Advanced coursework covers microbial culture systems, therapeutic product extraction, biomedical materials, imaging techniques, cellular engineering, and surface analysis. Every student undertakes a culminating design project incorporating pharmaceutical and medical device regulatory standards.
