The Master's degree in physics delivers comprehensive training in both experimental and theoretical physics, equipping students with a versatile professional foundation. Students can tailor their studies to various specializations aligned with current research initiatives at the Physics Department. Recognized by the University for national excellence, the program benefits from Old Dominion's strategic location (just 30 minutes away) near the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (TJNAF), a global leader in nuclear physics research, and NASA Langley Research Center.
Over the last two decades, the Physics department has experienced remarkable growth, doubling its faculty size while adding state-of-the-art teaching spaces, laboratory facilities, and upgraded computer-based labs.
The newly constructed Physical Sciences Research Building significantly expands research possibilities for both graduate and undergraduate students.
