The Doctor of Philosophy in Education specializing in Counseling aims to equip professional counselors with the skills to lead in the counseling field. Effective counseling leaders must excel as practitioners, mentors, educators, investigators, and academics. This curriculum strengthens doctoral candidates' therapeutic abilities, trains them for supervisory and administrative positions, hones their instructional techniques, instructs them in research methodologies, and cultivates their scholarly expertise. Graduates will be qualified to serve as professors in counselor education departments and as pioneers across diverse counseling disciplines (such as mental health counseling and school counseling).

Qualification Requirements

Students who are admitted to the Ph.D. program in Counseling must have a master's degree from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Program (CACREP) or the equivalent. Admitted individuals who do not have a CACREP-accredited master's degree in counseling must complete any missing master's level coursework as part of their doctoral program of study as a part of their Ph.D. program.
Upon reviewing application materials, counseling faculty will make a decision on each applicant's potential for success and fit for the doctoral program. Then, applicants will be invited to the following processes:
Ethical Dilemma Writing Sample: Applicant will be given an hour to respond to an ethical dilemma at a designated day and time.
An earned baccalaureate degree from institutions of higher education accredited by accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for Title IV purposes or international equivalent. at least a 3.00 cumulative grade point average for admission to a doctoral program
All prior College/University transcripts and Diploma. TOEFL IBT - 79. TOEFL Paper-Based - 550. IELTS - 6.5.
