International economics encompasses subjects tied to global finance and trade. Studies in this field may employ microeconomic or macroeconomic approaches, depending on the research focus. Scholars frequently utilize theoretical models, empirical analysis, and simulation methods. International finance explores open-economy macroeconomic phenomena, applying micro-founded theories and intertemporal frameworks to analyze patterns in global asset markets. Key areas of investigation include global economic cycles, currency exchange variations, emerging market policies, and national debt issues. Within international trade specialization, researchers examine how cross-border commerce in goods and services is influenced by diverse elements such as trade policies, international agreements, currency fluctuations, and even non-trade factors like environmental regulations, labor standards, or institutional reforms. We also acknowledge that trade reciprocally affects multiple economic dimensions including income levels, job markets, wealth distribution, environmental metrics, and broader development indicators. This dynamic interplay between trade influencers and trade consequences creates extensive research opportunities in international trade.
