The Department of Animal Sciences at The Ohio State University is dedicated to progressing animal sciences to benefit both animals and people through three key areas: Research, Education, and Community Engagement. As Ohio's premier institution for animal science learning and public outreach, it maintains strategic partnerships with: The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, The Department of Human Nutrition in the College of Education and Human Ecology, and The Animal Welfare Science Centre in Australia.
The department actively works with academic, industry, and government experts globally. Our faculty lead innovative research with significant impacts on conventional and emerging agricultural practices, as well as animal and human wellness. Key research concentrations encompass: Nutrition and microbiology, Breeding and genetic studies, Growth patterns and meat science, Mammary gland biology and dairy quality, Animal behavior and welfare, plus Waste management and bioenergy solutions. The MS program offers advanced academic preparation beyond the Bachelor of Science degree, equipping students for graduate studies or careers in research, industry, or Extension services.
