As a premier global institution, The Ohio State University provides extensive resources across its picturesque Columbus, Ohio campus. Within this vibrant academic environment, the School of Music operates under the College of Arts and Sciences, serving as Ohio State's core academic division. The school maintains an ideal balance - large enough to leverage the boundless opportunities of a top-tier university, yet intimate enough to address each student's personal development. Established in the 19th century, the School of Music now provides students, faculty, and visiting artists with a dynamic space for creating outstanding music, fostering artistic excellence, investigating teaching approaches, and pioneering research. Organized into specialized study areas, each led by a dedicated director, the School boasts faculty members who are acclaimed performers, composers, scholars, and educators worldwide, alongside expert full-time and adjunct instructors. These faculty members mentor about 300 undergraduate and 150 graduate music majors, plus numerous non-majors pursuing music minors, coursework, or participating in diverse performance groups.
