The Master of Arts in Teaching-Reading and Language Arts program primarily serves working classroom educators who address literacy development across various age groups. This graduate program equips teachers with strategies to manage diverse classroom sizes, from small groups to larger classes exceeding 40 students. Participants can pursue additional Michigan certifications as Classroom Reading Teachers (BT), Language Arts Instructors (BX), or Reading Specialists (BR) through this program. While all endorsements share a common foundational curriculum, Oakland University can only certify candidates for one specialization per completed course sequence. Each endorsement path has distinct course requirements and elective choices. To obtain state certification, candidates must successfully finish all required coursework and pass Michigan's designated endorsement examination.
