The doctoral program in Human Development and Social Policy (HDSP) explores the dynamic connections between public policy and human growth. Scholars and candidates investigate how government policies influence personal development and quality of life, how lifespan development research shapes policy decisions, and how individuals impact policy formation.
The HDSP curriculum examines human growth across all stages - childhood, adolescence, and adulthood - with emphasis on critical life transitions and generational relationships. Policy analysis within HDSP encompasses the entire policymaking cycle, studying policy creation, its effects on systems and motivations, its interaction with environmental factors, and how citizens influence policy through activism, voting, implementation, and academic research.

Qualification Requirements
Admitted students must hold a U.S. bachelor’s degree or a comparable non-U.S. degree from a regionally accredited institution.
GRE scores must be sent electronically directly from ETS and must be no older than five years at time of matriculation.
For the TOEFL, you must score 600 or higher on the paper-based test, 250 or higher on the computer-based test, and 100 or higher on the Internet-based test. For the IELTS, you must score 7.00 or higher.
Scores must be no older than two years at the time of matriculation.
