This discipline offers three pre-major options: Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, and Geography. The program aims to equip students for university transfer into these specialized fields.
Environmental Science emphasizes the scientific foundations behind environmental issues. This track concentrates on biology, environmental science, and advanced mathematics including calculus. University studies may expand into ecology, environmental management, wildlife conservation, or aquatic sciences.
Environmental Studies provides an interdisciplinary approach, incorporating subjects like anthropology, economics, introductory statistics, and technical writing. It examines environmental solutions at the crossroads of scientific and human-nature interactions. University pathways might include urban development, resource policy, climate studies, or non-profit leadership.
Geography and Environmental Sustainability blends multiple geographical perspectives: human, physical, and global studies. At university level, students can specialize in sustainability and climate science, regional studies, urban design, or geographic information systems.
Our curriculum introduces fundamental concepts in:
Earth's physical systems (weather patterns, land formations, atmospheric and water systems), Human-environment interactions (cultural influences, globalization, linguistic and religious impacts), Regional connections (trade networks, economic growth, geopolitical conflicts), Scientific and policy approaches to environmental challenges (pollution control, climate adaptation, sustainable practices)
