Spanish majors explore language, life, and culture through the perspective of Spanish. Professors emphasize literary research and cultural studies to develop students' fluency in both spoken and written Spanish. Learners acquire specialized expertise in areas like film studies, language education, multiculturalism, international relations, and language policy. Study abroad programs allow students to integrate real-world international experiences into their academic growth. Faculty offer short-term study options with comprehensive preparation before, during, and after the experience. Students can choose between faculty-led programs or traditional study abroad options. The Department of Language, Literature, and Writing equips graduates for successful careers in a globalized world that values creative problem-solving, articulate communication, and cultural awareness. Our program fosters a tight-knit academic community where students and professors collaborate and develop through a challenging liberal arts education. Graduates leave LLW programs with enhanced creative and professional expression skills, ready to approach ideas with both critical thinking and practical application.
