The master's program in geography is perfect for those passionate about geography, earth sciences, and atmospheric sciences. Your curriculum will equip you with the expertise to meaningfully impact society as researchers and instructors. The department encourages applications from individuals focused on geography, earth science, and atmospheric science. All newly accepted students pursuing a geography major for the M.S. degree must meet with the department's graduate studies coordinator prior to course registration. The coordinator will help students select a suitable primary advisor to assemble a committee for designing their academic plan. Candidates must select either a thesis or non-thesis track, with their advisor's approval. Students need advisor authorization each semester for geography course registration and must hold annual committee meetings to review degree progress. Those with academic gaps may need to complete additional undergraduate coursework. These prerequisites should typically be fulfilled during the first year and generally don't count toward graduate degree credits.
