This graduate certificate program deepens students' expertise in Latin American history, literature, and cultural studies. Ideal for those seeking to showcase specialized, interdisciplinary knowledge of Latin America to academic or professional audiences, the program introduces participants to varied texts, analytical methodologies, and comparative frameworks.
As the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies doesn't confer degrees, students must complete their graduate requirements through their primary department. The certificate is open to all enrolled graduate students in good standing, including non-degree seeking students. Instruction comes from faculty across multiple academic departments.
Prospective students should meet with both their departmental advisor and the Center's director early in their studies. The certificate requires 12 credit hours of coursework spanning at least two academic disciplines. With director approval, students may count relevant special topics courses or directed studies toward the Latin American Studies certificate requirements.
