This accelerated program enables students to earn both a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in political science and a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) degree. Interested undergraduates must declare their intent to pursue this politics and governance-focused track with the Political Science Department. Eligibility requires students to be political science majors with at least 96 undergraduate credits completed, while also satisfying the Department of Political Science's Honors Degree criteria (detailed below). Candidates must submit their application to Northern Illinois University's M.P.A. program by February 1st of their junior year, adhering to all Graduate School deadlines. Program qualifications include: Earning a B or better in POLS 100 or POLS 150, Achieving a B or higher in POLS 340, Securing a B or above in POLS 331/PSPA 331x. Additionally, applicants must complete an oral interview with a Public Administration Department faculty or staff member. Selection is competitive, with admission decisions based on applicant pool quality, general MPA program applicant standards, and standard departmental admission committee considerations.
