This Undergraduate Certificate in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Management and Mitigation educates students in climate change fundamentals, the impact of greenhouse gases on climate change, and the technical abilities needed to measure GHG emissions and create effective management and reduction strategies. Due to the magnitude and difficulties presented by climate change, there is a significant and increasing demand for professionals skilled in monitoring, reporting, and controlling GHG emissions from businesses and institutions. The program aims to establish a core understanding of the causes of global climate change, approaches to addressing it via GHG emissions management, and solid competencies in emissions measurement. It also familiarizes students with the growing discipline of GHG emissions accounting and equips them with the abilities to detect, validate, and disclose GHG emissions for corporations or communities. Graduates of the certificate will possess the GHG accounting and management expertise necessary to assist companies, organizations, and communities in advocating for climate initiatives, monitoring and reporting emissions, and developing impactful climate action strategies.
