Chemical Engineers integrate scientific principles with engineering techniques to play a vital role across diverse sectors such as biotechnology, semiconductor manufacturing, environmental solutions, industrial production, and chemical processing. A Chemical Engineering degree also serves as robust preparation for advanced studies in various fields. The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering boasts state-of-the-art laboratory resources for both coursework and student-led research. SJSU's Chemical Engineering Program is structured to deliver fundamental engineering knowledge while enabling students to focus on specific areas of interest. Additionally, the department provides an accelerated BS-MS dual degree option in Chemical Engineering.
Students must Earn a high school diploma, or equivalent and earn the equivalent of a U.S. 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or an average of “B” grades. Successfully complete three years of college preparatory mathematics with a minimum grade of “C-” or better.
English Language Requirements: IELTS - 6.0, TOEFL – 80 (IBT), Paper based – 550; Pearson Test of English (PTE) – 44.
