Bioengineering applies engineering principles within biological systems, whether in the human body, ecosystems, or bioreactors. Each scenario presents unique design challenges at the intersection of engineered and biological components, influenced by the biological system's characteristics and the desired functionality.

The fusion of engineering and medical science through bioengineering represents one of the most promising frontiers of the 21st century. Career prospects are projected to grow significantly, driven by innovations in medical devices, diagnostic tools, and implantable technologies with transformative potential for healthcare. As an inherently interdisciplinary field, bioengineering requires students to master the terminology of collaborative teams. Our program addresses this through six foundational courses that examine biological systems from diverse quantitative perspectives. After completing this core, students specialize in one of four focus areas to gain advanced expertise in their chosen bioengineering discipline.
