The Department of Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences (HNES) provides graduate programs culminating in a Master of Science (M.S.) degree with specializations in Exercise/Nutrition Science and Leadership in Physical Education and Sport. Additionally, the HNES department delivers an online Master of Science (M.S.) in Dietetics via the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance, along with an M.S. in Advanced Athletic Training and a Master of Athletic Training (MATrg) degree. Doctoral candidates can pursue a Ph.D. in Exercise Science and Nutrition. The Exercise/Nutrition Science specialization equips graduates for advanced roles focused on physical activity, exercise science, nutrition, and health promotion. The online Leadership in Physical Education and Sport (LPES) program develops educators, coaches, and sports professionals for leadership positions within educational institutions or professional associations. Graduates gain qualifications for roles such as master teachers, head coaches, athletic directors at secondary schools, collegiate coaching positions, and leadership roles in sports organizations.
