The Extension Education program provides graduate studies culminating in M.S. and M.Ed. degrees, requiring focused training in a chosen specialization. Students must complete at least 31 credit hours to graduate. NDSU's School of Education oversees these educational programs, equipping graduates for careers as educators, counselors, school administrators, and other vital roles in both educational and community settings. Graduates develop the skills to work effectively with diverse groups, gaining through coursework and practical experience a deep understanding of cultural diversity and a dedication to addressing unequal educational practices.
Teacher certification and school administrator credential programs within the School of Education maintain accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and approval from the North Dakota Education Standards and Practices Board (ESPB) at both undergraduate and graduate levels. NDSU holds recognition from the State Board for Career and Technical Education (NDCTE) as the primary institution for training Agricultural Education and Family & Consumer Sciences Education instructors. The counseling graduate programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). These accreditations and approvals guarantee that graduates meet certification/licensing requirements across states and confirm the high standards of NDSU's School of Education programs.
