The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Workforce Education prepares students for initial certification in career and technical education (CTE) at an advanced (T-5) instructional level.

The Family and Consumer Sciences specialization caters to professionals with backgrounds in areas like Culinary Arts and Nutrition, Family and Child Development, Consumer Economics and Housing, or Interiors, Textiles, and Merchandising.

To qualify for admission, students must have earned an undergraduate degree from a fully accredited college or university. A minimum of a 3.0 GPA in their undergraduate degree is preferred.

GaPSC Requirement
The state of Georgia now requires that all teacher prep candidates either pass the GACE Program Admission Assessment or exempt it (1000 Verbal + Math SAT, 43 English + Math ACT or 297 Verbal + Quantitative GRE) before they can be accepted into programs. The state also requires that all candidates have a minimum 2.5 GPA on undergraduate or previous graduate work. Go to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission website for details.
