The Department of Biological Sciences provides graduate programs culminating in Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. The M.S. program includes specializations in Biology as well as Environmental and Conservation Sciences.

Ph.D. candidates can pursue degrees in Biological Sciences, Genomics, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Environmental and Conservation Sciences, or STEM Education. Specialized training opportunities exist across diverse fields including: aquatic biology, behavioral studies, biology education research, cellular biology, comparative biochemistry and physiology, oncology, conservation science, ecological studies, endocrinology, developmental biology, evolutionary studies, fisheries science, molecular biology, botanical studies, population dynamics, prairie wetland ecology, evolutionary ecology, and wildlife biology.

Academic and research programs are customized to each student's objectives. The department fosters interdisciplinary solutions to biological challenges.

The graduate programs in the Department of Biological Sciences are open to all qualified graduates of universities and colleges of recognized standing. To be admitted with full status to the program, the applicant must meet all Graduate School admission requirements.
