Teaching assistantships are offered based on academic merit, recommendation letters, and a statement of purpose. All Graduate School admits in good standing qualify for English Department assistantships. Statements of purpose for teaching positions should accompany program applications and highlight relevant experience. The MA program requires 27 credits of graded coursework (minimum 3.0 GPA) plus a 3-credit Master's Paper. Qualification Requirements
Graduate studies in English is open to all qualified applicants who hold a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in English or a related field from an accredited college or university.

At the baccalaureate level, the applicant must have earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0, or equivalent, to attain full standing in a graduate degree program. Applicants whose last degree completed is a graduate degree may be admitted in full standing if the final GPA of that degree is at least 3.0 or equivalent.
A statement of purpose is required for admission consideration and must be uploaded to your online application.
