The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures introduces a new interdisciplinary graduate program for MA and PhD candidates. Scholars can leverage diverse departmental and campus resources to conduct comprehensive research on Asia, bridging disciplinary approaches and transcending conventional regional boundaries between East, South, and Southeast Asian studies. We invite applications from candidates pursuing transregional or interdisciplinary approaches, whether coming from traditional academic backgrounds in Asian Studies or professional experiences related to Asia.
Our department fosters a vibrant intellectual environment focused on Transasian Studies, actively supporting student initiatives including seminars, reading circles, workshops, and academic events. Future graduate students should connect with faculty whose expertise aligns with their scholarly pursuits.
International applicants must have a degree comparable to a regionally accredited U.S. bachelor’s degree.
