In our rapidly evolving global landscape, social science plays a crucial role in shaping and implementing policies. Building upon the department's longstanding expertise in both market and non-market forest economics, our researchers and students adopt domestic and global perspectives to address contemporary economic and policy challenges in forestry while advancing sustainable forest practices.
We expand our foundational principles in natural resource economics and policy through additional studies examining attitudes and actions related to wildlife conservation and land management. Collaborative initiatives such as SOFAC, which facilitates timber market modeling and analysis, along with the Center for Environmental and Resource Economic Policy (CenREP), enhance our graduate education and position us as industry leaders.
